Skills

When using your Life Path skills, your soul guides you and fills with color and strength.

To use, roll your Soul Aspect Die, Spark Die, and skill-related Aspect Die.

  • Any skill that connects you with others. ADD your Heart Aspect Die when using a Relational Skill.

    • Empathy

      • understand and relate to the hearts of others and how they feel or felt.

    • Insight -

      • look into others to better understand a situation, actions they took, how they feel, or how they’re acting. Insight, unlike empathy, is detached when looking into others.

    • Mediation -

      • help others or yourself to work through problems and find a solution that works best for everyone and brings about justice.

    • Introspection -

      • look inside yourself to better understand a situation, how you feel or action you took.

    • Linguistics -

      • easily pick up languages and be able to communicate with others quickly and effectively using your words.

    • Interpretation

      • slightly different from linguistics, interpretation is specifically the ability to understand what is being communicated in any form. However, communicating back is not part of interpretation.

    • Presence

      • enhance your presence to those around you by becoming more likeable, intimidating, or making yourself the center of attention in any way you choose.

    • Rituals

      • using routine and knowledge to create something or bring people together. Rituals is also a Creative Skill.

      • entertain others through actions.

    • Luck

      • communing with the universe and life to add an extra push to your actions.

      • creating a story shown to others in a variety of ways so they may enjoy its content.

    • Music Production

      • putting together a completed song using many different methods and means.

    • Cooking

      • taking flora or insects and creating sustenance.

      • using a variety of tools and media to create a picture.

    • Singing

      • using a variety of sounds from the throat and mouth to create music.

    • Crafting

      • creating physical art using items and tools.

    • Rituals

      • using routine and knowledge to create something or bring people together. Rituals is also a Relational Skill.

    • Building

      • creating a structure or item using materials and tools, including smithing, welding, carpentry.

    • Dancing

      • moving the body in a rhythmic way. Dancing is also a Physical Skill.

      • charting locations and areas.

      • the study and application of beauty treatment.

      • the science of making concoctions using a variety of ingredients.

      • ability to move and think quickly and easily. Agility is also a Physical Skill.

  • Any skill that requires you to increase your body’s abilities through practice and training. Some of these will be duplicates of your Family Court Abilities, which means you will roll all dice related to the skill/ability. Some might also overlap with your Aemai Focus, so you will roll all dice related when using your focus. ADD your Body Aspect Die when using a Physical Skill.

    • Martial Arts

      • Using the body and/or weapons in a routine or specific way to defend or fight.

    • Hand to Hand

      • using the body to defend or fight.

    • Dancing

      • moving the body in a rhythmic way. Dancing is also a Creative Skill.

    • Wielder of Weapons

      • using non-firearm weapons to defend or fight.

      • using long distance, non-firearm, weapons to defend or fight.

Items & Gifts

ITEMS

Special items you receive in a magical bag. You receive 3 at Spark Level 1. Number of uses based on your Spark Level. You can use Celestial Boosts to use it more.

GIFTS

Presented to you starting at Spark Level 2, gifts are special actions you can take without a dice roll.

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires strength.

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires speed.

  • Throw this mushroom and watch it pop, throwing back any enemies in front of it by 8 lengths.

  • Eat this edible bark in order to gain +8 defense for the in-game day. Can be compiled or shared with others.

  • Grants the ability to create a weapon of your choice once per day. The weapon’s strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • Grants the ability to create a shield, armor or jewelry of your choice once per day. The strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • A small satchel filled with stardust from the expanse that can be molded into any solid item. Roll a D20 + 8 to find its strength. It returns to stardust at the end of an in-game day. The size of the item is determined by your Spark Level: it can be as big as a one foot cube per level, so level two would be 2 foot cube, 3 - 3 foot cube, and so on. Working with others increases the size by their spark level amount as well.

  • A special mushroom that creates a smoke screen when it collides with another object or being. It temporarily incapacitates any life within a circle with a diameter of 8 lengths. Effects last for 1 in-game minute.

  • Magically creates a crystalline wall 8 lengths long and 8 lengths high when it is buried.

  • Protect a member of your community by throwing this mushroom in front of them to take the entirety of ONE attack.

  • When a member of your community is down, and their body still able to heal, throw this shell onto them and watch it grow in size and close around them. This shell keeps them completely safe from any forces who wish to destroy their body.

  • Share your Body Aspect die with someone for an in-game day. They can add your die to one of their Body Aspect rolls.

  • Give your entire party one piece of matching armor that lasts for one in-game day. For the armor’s defense, everyone rolls their Spark Level die and the total number is the defense for all.

  • Reflect an attack back upon its sender.

  • When you take an action with a member of your community, add one D8 to your rolls.

  • Summon one of Dashen to join you at the start of a fight. Their Spark Level is your Spark Level. They MUST act with you or a member of your community. They do not take their own turn.

  • You can detect when a SoulThief is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • You can detect when a SparkThief is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • You can detect when a Curse is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • When in combat, you wrap yourself and your community in a defensive barrier. Roll your Spark Die+D8 and add the # to all community members’ Defense while in combat.

  • Your Soul and Spark are protected from ever being stolen. (Hearts cannot be stolen ever.)

  • Your body’s abilities increase. Add your Spark Die & a D8 to any Body Aspect rolls.

  • Aemai rolls against you are halved. Number of uses based on your Spark Level. You can use Celestial Boosts to use it more.

  • Create a spectral version of yourself that acts as a shield for a community member right before they are hurt. The spectral you has (13xSpark Level) Life Points. It disappears once those LP are used to defend your community member. Number of uses based on your Spark Level. You can use Celestial Boosts to use it more.
