The Theft of Sparks & Souls

Within the Realm of Yazzvai, and its worlds, there are 5 types of antagonists/challengers you could face. Each one is unique, and has its own struggles and motivations. Thieves come in all shapes and sizes. Use the creation process to inspire your Thief.

Invasive Flora & Insects

Flora and Insects have a Spark, Mind, Body and Soul. The Spark gives them energy to be alive. The mind leads their life cycle, their body is their form & inherent physical abilities, and their soul is the skills they have to function within their ecosystem.

An example of this is how pollinators collect and distribute pollen throughout flora and how tree roots can communicate with nearby flora. Making honey, producing fruit, producing medicine - all of these are things the soul does for flora and insects.

Sometimes, Thieves will take the Spark or Soul of a flora or insects which causes them to become invasive. They begin sucking the Sparks or Souls from surrounding flora or insects in order to try and replace theirs and thus cause a major upset in the ecosystem. These invasive flora and insects can only steal sparks OR souls, not both, and they often mutate in destructive ways.

Puppets

Puppets are forms made of inanimate objects that are created by a Consumer and powered by Sparks. They can take the form of almost anything the Consumer imagines, but they have no mind, heart or soul.

When they lock onto a Spark they desire, they are unable to shift their concentration. They have a very simplistic 'coding' and cannot intuitively shift to protect themselves or even change targets.

If another target steps in front of their view, they will shift who they are after because they are in front of them now.

Puppets can only use physical attacks. They have no skills and no magic. They are similar to zombies and automatons.

Soulless

Soulless have had their Souls stolen, so they are in search of the 'correct' soul to fill their void. They steal the Souls of others in order to gain Skills, one per stolen soul.

They are Zhairii, which means they have a Spark, Mind, Body, Heart & Soul. They are capable of using magic, abilities and skills from the souls they have stolen. Create them using the creation process, and then remove their original soul to make them into a Soulless.

Curses

Curses are created by Consumers and are a step above Puppets. They are given a mind, body and soul of their own, but they lack a heart. Because of this, the are usually lacking any sort of color in their form and they have no magic.

They have souls, so they are able to have skills and they can think for themselves. They are still tied down to their Consumer's directives, but have a personality and the ability to think on their feet during combat.

Despite not having a heart, they still abide by the core rules of creation, never violating others and never harming children and beings who are in the process of growing new life.

Curses have Life Paths, but they are the opposite of what a Persona/Zhairii would have.

- Path of Creation -> Path of Destruction

Path of Destruction is all about tearing things apart, down to the most basic form - stardust. They desire Sparks to get stronger, and love to create chaos where there is community.

- Path of Protection -> Path of Danger

Path of Danger seeks dangerous thrills, even if it creates problems for others. They seek out high danger situations and aim to prove their strength to whoever and whatever they believe is worthy of a fight.

- Path of Healing -> Path of Damage

Path of Damage seeks to create Soulless. They desire Souls to become stronger, gaining the skills of the souls they have stolen.

All Curses are ‘redeemable’ if they are created a heart and accept that heart. This causes them to feel the pain of the harm they have caused, take accountability and their life path shifts. They are able to connect with others, have compassion and empathy, and then can even wield Aemai once they accept their heart and take accountability. Create them using the creation process, then remove their 'Heart’ and change their Life Path to make them into a Curse. You can also skip over their Heart and Life Path, starting with a blank slate and letting their redemption story tell itself through roleplay.

Consumers

Consumers are Zhairii who have chosen to steal Spark and Souls from others and consume them in order to gain both Skills and more power.

Their bodies often lose their color, become clear - glass like but without the ability to refract light. They have completely abandoned their Hearts and thus have much less control over their magic. Their Aemai often goes wild and out of control, causing harm to both themselves and all around them.

Because they have corrupted themselves willingly, when defeated, they often turn to stardust and all Sparks and Souls can be sent to their rightful beings or gathered up to return safely. Souls are better to be gathered because those with stolen souls have become Soulless and can be Redeemed once their Soul is returned to them. Use the creation process to create a Consumer, then alter/add the consumed sparks and souls.
