How to make your very own character!

Did you come here from another world or did you find yourself here with a memory lost to the restart? What are your motivations and interests? Who do you want to become?

Your story is yours to tell or if you wish to leave the past behind, you are free to make yourself anew and travel to a new world.

Do you seek safety? A chosen family? Or do you desire to become a hero on an epic journey of self-discovery and adventure. However you wish to recreate yourself, you’ll always start here.

Determine the strength of your Aspects below by assigning them each a die using

Heart

Choose your magics and how you wield them. Your magics determine the color your of your eyes, illuminating your being with life. You also use your Heart for any connection created or felt.

Soul

Choose your Life Path. Your Life Path is what your Soul desires most out of life, and by choosing which way to go, you choose your Gifts & Items granted to you by Dashen as well as your Skills you would line to develop.

Mind

Your mind is your cognition and memory.

Aemai Focus

Use these special skills as your Focus to add a bit of extra fun to your roleplaying. You can also choose any other skill from the other lists.

  • You create, study and can speak with technology and machines of all kinds. You are able to imbue any machine with Aemai or build tech powered by Aemai. All magically imbued items are considered magic tech including wands, cauldrons, etc.

  • You study crystals. How to forage them, where special ones can be found, and how they can be used to activate magic - sometimes even magic you cannot wield. You always have a stash of crystals on you, each one specified for a type of Aemai.

  • You create bonds with others and work together when you use your magic. You have to use these bonds when wielding because your magic is dependent on your bond - your mutual promise.

  • You create creatures from your Aemai and they complete the action of magic use for you. They disappear once you release them. They are illusions of magic, not real creatures. They are a visual of your magical abilities.

  • You create sound in order to weave and move your magic how you need it. Your music, singing, and any other sounds you make help you to wield your magic.

  • You create with spoken words, phrases, sounds, or poetry to spark, utilize or contain your magic.

  • You create words, stories, and poetry that spark your magic into existence and your language helps you utilize and contain your magic types.

  • You create images and scenes inside your mind that are so vivid and strong that they ignite your Aemai into existence and grant you the ability to wield it.

  • You use movement to spark and utilize your magic. This includes dance, martial arts, signing, and any other form of movement.

  • You create pictures, sculptures, sketches or other works of art in order to bring your magic to life. Your artwork helps you to wield your magic how you desire.

Life Paths

Life paths are the desires your soul has for its life. It is what feeds your soul and makes you stronger as you grow. (Create your own Life Path using this template)

Path of Protection

Those who follow the Path of Protection want to help others by protecting them and defending against Soul & Spark Thieves as well as Curses. They believe in truth, caring for communities, and defending life’s freedom and creativity.

Items

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires strength.

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires speed.

  • Throw this mushroom and watch it pop, throwing back any enemies in front of it by 8 lengths.

  • Eat this edible bark in order to gain +8 defense for the in-game day. Can be compiled or shared with others.

  • Grants the ability to create a weapon of your choice once per day. The weapon’s strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • Grants the ability to create a shield, armor or jewelry of your choice once per day. The strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • A small satchel filled with stardust from the expanse that can be molded into any solid item. Roll a D20 + 8 to find its strength. It returns to stardust at the end of an in-game day.

  • A special mushroom that creates a smoke screen when it collides with another object or being. It temporarily incapacitates any life within a circle with a diameter of 8 lengths. Effects last for 1 in-game minute.

  • Magically creates a crystalline wall 8 lengths long and 8 lengths high when it is buried.

  • Protect a member of your community by throwing this mushroom in front of them to take the entirety of ONE attack.

  • When a member of your community is down, and their body still able to heal, throw this shell onto them and watch it grow in size and close around them. This shell keeps them completely safe from any forces who wish to destroy their body.

  • Share your Body Aspect die with someone for an in-game day. They can add your die to one of their Body Aspect rolls.

  • Give your entire party one piece of matching armor that lasts for one in-game day. For the armor’s defense, everyone rolls their Spark Level die and the total number is the defense for all.

  • Reflect an attack back upon its sender.

  • When you take an action with a member of your community, add one D8 to your rolls.

  • Summon one of Dashen to join you at the start of a fight. Their Spark Level is your Spark Level. They MUST act with you or a member of your community. They do not take their own turn.

  • You can detect when a SoulThief is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • You can detect when a SparkThief is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • You can detect when a Curse is near, up to 31 lengths away.

  • When in combat, you wrap yourself and your community in a defensive barrier. Roll your Spark Die+D8 and add the # to all community members’ Defense while in combat.

  • Your Soul and Spark are protected from ever being stolen. (Hearts cannot be stolen ever.)

  • Your body’s abilities increase. Add your Spark Die & a D8 to any Body Aspect rolls.

  • Aemai rolls against you are halved. Number of uses based on your Spark Level. You can use Celestial Boosts to use it more.

  • Create a spectral version of yourself that acts as a shield for a community member right before they are hurt. The spectral you has (13xSpark Level) Life Points. It disappears once those LP are used to defend your community member. Number of uses based on your Spark Level. You can use Celestial Boosts to use it more.

Path of Healing

Those who follow the Path of Healing want to help others by healing them. They are dedicated to undoing the harm of others, and have a special connection with HeartSouls and their Sparks.

  • (+8 LP) Ready-to-go drinkable healing

  • (+13 LP) Ready-to-go topical healing

  • (+16) A stone mortar and pestle in the design of your choice that lets you make a salve, poultice, incense, or pill of your choice. You must have ingredients, and the creation takes 1 hour. You need 1 bundle of ingredients.

  • (+16) A cast iron cauldron that can create potions, soups, broths, and stews of all kinds if you have foraged ingredients. Set the intention for your potion, throw in 1 bundle of ingredients, and get cooking! Creating in your cauldron takes 2 hours.

  • A special mushroom that creates a smoke screen when it collides with something. It temporarily incapacitates any enemies within a circle with a diameter of 8 lengths.

  • Magically creates a crystalline wall 8 lengths long and 8 lengths high when it is buried.

  • When your community is in trouble and you need to transport them, use this giant leaf as a way to get them to safety.

  • When a member of your community is down, and their body still able to heal, throw this shell onto them and watch it grow in size and close around them. This shell keeps them completely safe from any forces who wish to destroy their body.

  • A magical mushroom that explodes in a rainbow mist when placed upon the ground. Every community member begins to heal thanks to this mist. They each heal for 16 LP.

  • Place this mushroom upon the ground and a path of glowing mushrooms will lead you to safety or to the destination of choice.

  • Hold this mushroom close to your Heart and watch it multiply in front of your community members, healing each of them for +26 LP.

  • When you get yourself into trouble you aren’t ready for, or if you need time to come up with a plan, throw this shard of amber at your enemy and enclose them inside for up to 3 minutes.

  • An extremely rare mushroom made of auroras that only those following the Path of Healing are gifted. This mushroom can heal someone +36 LP when they eat it and it will get rid of any ailments upon the body such as poisoned, bitten with venom, blinded, deafened, paralyzed, and incapacitated.

  • An extremely rare mushroom bundle of 8 made of auroras that only those following the Path of Healing are gifted. This mushroom can heal life +36 LP per mushroom when they eat it and it will get rid of any ailments upon the body such as poisoned, bitten with venom, blinded, deafened, paralyzed, and incapacitated.

  • Tell the seed what kind of flower you would like to grow, plant it, water it, and watch it grow 3 stories high. You can either harvest the flower for 8 bundles of ingredients, climb it to get somewhere higher, or create your own use!

  • Plant this seed anywhere and a safe, secure Haezhai tree will appear before you. It will lift you up high and create housing and a map of the local area up to 100 lengths. You can then rest, eat, restore your LP, and be defended by the Haezhai tree until you are ready to continue on your Quest.

  • Create an illusion of your choice up to 10 lengths away using this crystal.

  • A cast iron cauldron that can create potions, soups, broths, and stews of all kinds if you have foraged ingredients. Set the intention for your potion, throw in 1 bundle of ingredients, and get cooking! Creating in your cauldron takes 2 hours.

With wings and bodies covered in feathers, Aezhii come in many forms. Some swim, some fly, and others are some of the fastest runners in existence. Aezhii will always have wings and feathers, but not all will fly or be decorated in vivid colors. Some need more neutral colors to help disguise themselves.

Inspired by Dragons of Legend

Ifayli were the first Family to exist in mortal form. Ithala, the first created life, chose to be an Ifayli. They have scales, tails, wings, and often horns as well but not always. They can have any kind of tails and wings that they want and as many as they want. Though they all have wings, not all Ifayli fly. Some of them use their wings to swim, to dig, or to activate their Aemai.

  • With wings full of feathers and color, Dragons of the Air soar high in the skies, and sometimes through the stars. They have scales upon their bodies like all Ifayli, but their wings are made from feathers. They can tell when a change in wind is coming.

Water Mammal Family Inspiration

These amazing Family Courts are known for their relationship the water, but some are able to take part in both the land and the water. Taking after water mammals of Earth, Liowhai understand the deep relationship between the two ways of living.

  • Covered in fur, but spending swathes of time in the water, these Stiovan are known to most often look like Polar Bears and Otters. Their fur and body is made to swim about, hunt and dive while also being great for living upon the land.

  • Taking after the ancient and diverse Salamander, the Court of Tails comes in a variety of colors and patterns. They usually live near water and land, able to switch between the two based on their needs.

Within Yazzvai, the Shruima Family Courts are directly tied to the world itself. All of the Families are, but Shruima are especially connected to Shumairae and the forests all around Haezhai. They work side by side with the Haezhai tree that houses Yazzvai, communicating with the forest and land beneath.
