How to make your very own character!

Did you come here from another world or did you find yourself here with a memory lost to the restart? What are your motivations and interests? Who do you want to become?

Your story is yours to tell or if you wish to leave the past behind, you are free to make yourself anew and travel to a new world.

Do you seek safety? A chosen family? Or do you desire to become a hero on an epic journey of self-discovery and adventure. However you wish to recreate yourself, you’ll always start here.

1st

Choose your Family Courts to determine your looks and physical Abilities. Your Persona can be human-like or not - it is up to you. They can also have multiple forms that are mixtures of your Family Courts. Here at Yazzvai, we are all about creative freedom. Your family does not have to look like you, because each life chooses their form based on their desires for their life. Cultures are based on location and community.

2nd

Choose your Life Path. Who do you want to be? What is your desire for your life? Choosing your Life Path will give you special bonuses, items and gifts as well as a choice of Skills. Create your Persona’s Path and mold them into the being you wish. You can also create your own Life Path using our template.

3rd

Choose your Aemai & Focus. What magics do you desire to wield? What colors light up your Heart and Eyes? Your Aemai is the types of magics you wield and your Focus is how you wield them. Will your Focus also be a Skill you chose from your Life Path so you can layer your magical strength?

4th

Assign your Aspect Dice. There are four Aspects of Self: Heart, Soul, Mind, Body. Assign the pool of dice to each one according to where you want your strengths to lie most. Do you want your Aemai and relational actions to be strongest? Then, assign the D20. Are you okay with having a weaker Body? Then, assign the D8.

5th

Be gifted your choice of gear from the shops within Shumairae, or work with them to create your own masterpieces. (coming soon…)

6th

Create your companion(s). Work side by side with a companion through all your journeys. Follow the same steps you did to create your own Persona to create your companion. Companions are forever partners in life, similar to familiars. They live as long as you do, connecting through an eternal promise, a sacred oath, made to each other.

Inspired by Birds of all kinds.

With wings and bodies covered in feathers, Aezhii come in many forms. Some swim, some fly, and others are some of the fastest runners in existence. Aezhii will always have wings and feathers, but not all will fly or be decorated in vivid colors. Some need more neutral colors to help disguise themselves.

  • From the day to the night, the sky alights with warmth. The Court of Evening embodies the colors of change, embracing the shift and honoring both day and night. This Court is the act of resting after a long day personified.

  • The Court of Night is known for its many nocturnal abilities. Galavanting through the darkness without worry, for their world is colorful and bright in its own way. Visions painted in the sky, and colors never seen by day, they embody all of the beauty of the night.

  • In tune with the weather, Ethaerae of the Court of Clouds often boast the myriads of blues and iridescent visions of the cloudy sky. Sometimes, they mirror the beautiful array of cool or warm colors often seen amongst the clouds at different times of day too.

  • Touched by the sun itself, Ethaerae of the Court of Sun often have a birthmark in the shape of the sun and their colors often reflect the myriad of yellows, reds and in between that the sun is known for.

Inspired by Dragons of Legend

Ifayli were the first Family to exist in mortal form. Ithala, the first created life, chose to be an Ifayli. They have scales, tails, wings, and often horns as well but not always. They can have any kind of tails and wings that they want and as many as they want. Though they all have wings, not all Ifayli fly. Some of them use their wings to swim, to dig, or to activate their Aemai.

  • With wings full of feathers and color, Dragons of the Air soar high in the skies, and sometimes through the stars. They have scales upon their bodies like all Ifayli, but their wings are made from feathers. They can tell when a change in wind is coming.

Flora Family Inspiration

Growing from the gorgeous greenery and flowers of the worlds, these vast and colorful Family Courts are specially attuned to the Flora of Life. They often find themselves brightly colored, and are able to grow roots to communicate with local flora.

  • Brilliant colors and flurries of petals, this Family Court is known for taking after flowers from across worlds. Boasting the colors of the rainbow as well as ultraviolet, they adore color.

Water Mammal Family Inspiration

These amazing Family Courts are known for their relationship the water, but some are able to take part in both the land and the water. Taking after water mammals of Earth, Liowhai understand the deep relationship between the two ways of living.

  • Covered in fur, but spending swathes of time in the water, these Stiovan are known to most often look like Polar Bears and Otters. Their fur and body is made to swim about, hunt and dive while also being great for living upon the land.

  • Gifted with the looks of Seals, Sea Lions, Walruses, Manatees and Sea Cows, the Court of Blubber is known for being in bigger bodies equipped for colder waters. They often have tusks or horns, but not always.

Amphibian Family Inspiration

Born in the water, these Family Courts are strong swimmers who most often boast beautiful colors and patterns. Each is unique in their own way, and most go through a metamorphosis when young to become adults, but not all do.

  • Taking after the ancient and diverse Salamander, the Court of Tails comes in a variety of colors and patterns. They usually live near water and land, able to switch between the two based on their needs.

  • Unlike the other Maphai Courts, the Court of Gills does not go through a metamorphosis. They keep their gills and aquatic nature into adulthood. Inspired by the adorable Axolotls, the Court of Gills prefers to be in water, but has the ability to be on land in Yazzvai.

With eight limbs, these Family Courts are known for their relation to arachnids. Covered in beautiful colors or patterns, or for their natural ability to hide, they are attuned to their senses. While sometimes seen as scary, each individual life is their own.

  • Known for spinning webs of brilliant designs or for their ability to jump extremely long distances, the Court of Webs is inspired by Spiders of all kinds.

Fungi Family Inspiration

Within Yazzvai, the Shruima Family Courts are directly tied to the world itself. All of the Families are, but Shruima are especially connected to Shumairae and the forests all around Haezhai. They work side by side with the Haezhai tree that houses Yazzvai, communicating with the forest and land beneath.

  • Taking after Lionsmane fungi, the Court of Lions has an energy that is infectious and is filled with an inner strength.

Known most often for having fur or hair and skin, Stiovan take after the land mammals of Earth, but with a colorful twist. They are often bright colors and many have fun patterns as well. Most from the Stiovan have tails, but not all.

  • Known for having hooves and antlers, this Family Court is inspired by mammals such as Moose, Deer, Sheep and similar.

  • From sharks to stingrays to fish of all kinds, the Court of Fins is full of a variety of swimmers. One thing they have in common is fins and their connection to the waters of life.

They come in a variety of forms, but all Syzhai Family Courts have tails and are cold-blooded. Inspired by reptiles, ancient and modern, these Family Courts are fierce and strong.

  • Known for their shells, this Court takes after turtles of all kinds including tortoises. They come in all sizes and while some can swim, others cannot.

Those who follow the Path of Protection want to help others by protecting them and defending against Soul & Spark Thieves as well as Curses. They believe in truth, caring for communities, and defending life’s freedom and creativity.

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires strength.

  • Get a bonus +8 to a Body Aspect check that requires speed.

  • Throw this mushroom and watch it pop, throwing back any enemies in front of it by 8 lengths.

  • Eat this edible bark in order to gain +8 defense for the in-game day. Can be compiled or shared with others.

  • Grants the ability to create a weapon of your choice once per day. The weapon’s strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • Grants the ability to create a shield, armor or jewelry of your choice once per day. The strength is a D8 times your Spark level + any related skill rolls.

  • A small satchel filled with stardust from the expanse that can be molded into any solid item. Roll a D20 + 8 to find its strength. It returns to stardust at the end of an in-game day. The size of the item is determined by your Spark Level: it can be as big as a one foot cube per level, so level two would be 2 foot cube, 3 - 3 foot cube, and so on. Working with others increases the size by their spark level amount as well.

Those who follow the Path of Healing want to help others by healing them. They are dedicated to undoing the harm of others, and have a special connection with HeartSouls and their Sparks.

  • (+8 LP) Ready-to-go drinkable healing

Aemai Focus

Use these special skills as your Focus to add a bit of extra fun to your roleplaying.

You can also choose any other skill from the other lists.

  • You create, study and can speak with technology and machines of all kinds. You are able to imbue any machine with Aemai or build tech powered by Aemai. All magically imbued items are considered magic tech including wands, cauldrons, etc.

  • You study crystals. How to forage them, where special ones can be found, and how they can be used to activate magic - sometimes even magic you cannot wield. You always have a stash of crystals on you, each one specified for a type of Aemai.

  • You create bonds with others and work together when you use your magic. You have to use these bonds when wielding because your magic is dependent on your bond - your mutual promise.

  • You create creatures from your Aemai and they complete the action of magic use for you. They disappear once you release them. They are illusions of magic, not real creatures. They are a visual of your magical abilities.

  • You create sound in order to weave and move your magic how you need it. Your music, singing, and any other sounds you make help you to wield your magic.

  • You create with spoken words, phrases, sounds, or poetry to spark, utilize or contain your magic.

  • You create words, stories, and poetry that spark your magic into existence and your language helps you utilize and contain your magic types.

  • You create images and scenes inside your mind that are so vivid and strong that they ignite your Aemai into existence and grant you the ability to wield it.

  • You use movement to spark and utilize your magic. This includes dance, martial arts, signing, and any other form of movement.

  • You create pictures, sculptures, sketches or other works of art in order to bring your magic to life. Your artwork helps you to wield your magic how you desire.
